Main tasks:

• coordinates and surveys the safety of navigation and performs naval traffic control;
• coordinates the assistance, search and rescue activities and acts in case of natural calamities and distress situations;
• protects the navigable waters against pollution by ships and coordinates the intervention actions for de-pollution;
• sanctions the trespassing to the shipment regime, leads the investigations in case of navigations events;
• performs the registration of ships flying the Romanian flag;
• organizes the exams sessions regarding the certificates for pleasure craft skippers;
• issues notice to seafarers in order to regulate the navigation.

Services provided to clients:

• operations regarding ships registration, the transfer of property and issuing of ships’ nationality documents;
• transcription, transmission or extinction of the real rights on ships;
• authorizes the firms performing shipment activities;
• issues of the safe manning certificate;
• naval traffic surveillance for Romanian maritime harbours;
• coordinates and controls the arrivals/departures of ships;
• issues the authorizations for repairs, docking and launching of the ships;
• organizes the exams sessions regarding the certificates for pleasure craft skippers;
• escorting the special transports with the harbour master’s transport facilities;
• extending of the validity of the seafarers’ book;
• authorizes the loading/unloading of dangerous goods outside the port limits;
